I wish Hermione was more appreciated too - have you read the Tiffany Aching books by Terry Pratchett? Tiffany is clever, logical, reads a lot and likes people to get things right and I'm trying to remember a review I read that went something like: with any other writer, Tiffany would be the sidekick to some emotional, impulsive kid, and she'd learn to trust emotion over logic and cut loose, but with Terry Pratchett it she's the hero and turns out to be absolutely fine as she is. Which, okay, doesn't specifically compare with HP, but it certainly made me think of Hermione and Harry and sigh sadly.

So also not loving JKR over here - particularly since she started to signify shouting by having Harry SPEAK IN CAPITALS. If she's been reading fanfic, it must have been the bad stuff...
