it's alive!

So--about a week ago? The cats knocked the lid off the 40 gallon tank that houses our Nile monitor, Lando, and he got out, and we kind of gave up looking for him. He's about two feet long right now, mostly all tail. I resigned myself to finding a dried up lizard carcass somewhere in the house, but tonight! Tonight, he showed up out of nowhere, chasing Millie! And then Roxy cornered him in an overturned trashcan and he bit her in the nose. But all is well! We really figured he was gone for good, because he needs to be in constant heat and it's been really cold in the house lately. I'm not really fond of him, but I'm glad he's not dead somewhere in my house. Huzzah!

You has lizard! And, um, not corpse.

(It's icky to think that not only has a pet escaped, it's died and the shell is just waiting for you to chance upon it.)

D: How did you sleep? Weren't you worried about him crawling over your face or something?

Reptiles can hide very well. I'm glad he was found alive. A gecko got out earlier this year at my parents place and we thought he was gone for good after several very cold weeks but when their house was being demolished (to make way for the new one they are building) my sister found him crawling around in the brick-work.

Ahhh... the trials and tribulations of cats setting the other animals free.

One of my cats once killed one of my fish.

Not in like an ate it kind of way, but it was some sort of rare exotic fish and it needed a special climate or something and the cat unplugged the thing that keeps the climate special. Anyway we had to bury it because it was huge and couldn't be flushed down the toilet.

Your story is easy to relate to.

The thought of a (TWO FOOT) lizard lurking somewhere in my house gives me the *shudders*. I am glad you found him alive and well!
