skoosiepants | where does it say ya gotta live and die here?

Dudes. I've got Newsies on the brain ever since finding that grown up pic of Les. I've been singing the songs around the house and generally driving J insane, and I really, really want to break out my DVD... I just haven't been home long enough this weekend to watch it.

I encourage all who've never seen it to go watch it, because guh. It has got to be one of my all-time fav movies, right up there with Better off Dead. Only maybe better, because you can sing along. I memorized all the words way back in '92, when I was an obsessed sophmore in high school. Can you imagine how cool I was back then? Dudes. So cool. I should scrounge up a school pic because wow. You cannot properly fathom the cool without pictures to illustrate.

Anywho, I've found SCREENCAPS!. There are so much fun :) And, of course, this means I've been busy with my paintshop... some simple icons follow. Mostly of Spot, because he's my favorite and he's also got a pimp cane! I think I'll go back and do some minor characters later. I'm not the best at this, but feel free to take, share, request certain newsies. Yay!

At least you mock your coolness factor in highschool. leggylulu and i didn't actually get into this movie until our post-highschool days, in 2002. Yes that's right folks. Way after most people have stored this away in there "I will love this forever archives" we manage to discover the joy found in alternating singing lines of "Carrying the Banner" and actually learning both parts when they sing them simultaneously (tho we never really got that down fully) Not to mention alternate versions such as "carrying bananas" (oh the hilarity!)
In short: I love newsies, and feel inexplicably better about myself, knowing that there are others out there...

From watching the extras, or possibly just being that lame, and looking stuff up online (i'm not lame alone, leggylulu was with me!) we actually discovered that the pimp cane was Gabe's idea! Which just makes it that much cooler...

*laughs* Well, the obsession began in highschool, but it never really ended. Both PB and I have the cds in our cars, so no matter which one we're in, we can sing along :)

I totally just spent the whole night making more icons... I'm so pathetic!

And that is so entirely cool that the cane was all Gabe... he's such a cutey
