Because maybe I can make my vacation somewhat productive...
snagged from
luciademedici:
Go to one of my fics and pick a sentence or two (lucia's edit: substantial quotation that has context *g*) out from it. I'll try to guess which fic it's from. Anyone who can stump me gets to request a drabble in one of my existing universes, or post a pic (or prompt) and I'll write a drabble about it.
I totally suck at request drabbles 'cause I never even finished the last batch y'all gave me, so let's hope I don't get stumped :) Have at it!

I'm gonna have to go with the boys ;)
::pets John and Rodney::
Though I still love Radek too. ::nods::

There's the difference. *grins* I'd like to toss Weir off the highest tower in Atlantis ::whistles::
I adore Radek, and he's very cute when frustrated ;) but his crush on Weir makes him less interesting. ;)

I'd LOVE to see some interaction between her and the non-John members of this expedition. :P I mean yeah she's the leader and John's head military but Rodney's head scientist, Carson head doctor, Teyla is the leader of her people and basically a liason for the Athosians and Lanteans...they're command staff--she should have just as close a relationship with them as with John, I think. Because they all have orders to give in various forms and they all have the stress of being in situations where they're responsible for everyone under them....
And yeah, those moments where they argued over command decisions were much more honest than these moments where John's all 'I stand behind all Elizabeth's decisions 100%'. *snerk* Especially since he really, really doesn't. ;)

Wouldn't you love to see Elizabeth go off on Team Sheppard, and really lay it on that contrary to popular opinion, she is in fact the one in charge? I would love to see her do that, just once.

I agree, she was strong and competent with the IOA (though I wasn't too happy at the end that she let Woosley give her credit for John's ideas) but yeah a regular occurance of that Weir would be much more interesting than the flip flopping we've been getting.

I didn't like that bit either, but if it means Earth won't screw up a good theory (hey, they did do some awesome work in Season 1) then okay. Commanding Weir is a great thing to behold. It was brought up at the Con by the panel of goers (not the famous) that they're very inconsistant with writing the women on the show. I'd have to agree. Strong leader Weir would be good to explain why she's so important to the mission, you know?

They are SO inconsistent!! *sigh* Just look at Carter. ::shakes head:: They need some strong women writers on this show at the very least to say to the male writers 'okay this--this is a HORRIBLE portrayal of women'. And yeah they need to do something because at the moment I really have no idea why she's important at all. ::shrugs::

I know, and we should know, and damnit...Sheppard should respect her position, even if he does have issues with COs, she's not one of those...technically. Even just a little, for ONCE, it should happen. Seriously, they should hire some women writers, what about the creators of Gilmore Girls, for like three episodes a year, where the women ARE IMPORTANT OMG! I don't like Carter, so I refuse to look at her. She puts me to sleep. Now Vala...okay, but no to Carter.

For me, honestly--I'd much rather see Sheppard in charge because I tend to disagree with Weir's more emotionally driven decisions most of the time. :P And I don't like the whole 'we can "talk" them down' kind of attitude she has in dangerous situations. Talking is not always the answer. But maybe, MAYBE if she were written better I'd like the character more.
But I would LOVE to see the other women on SGA like Teyla get some real, well written episodes. Ones where they're not in the background holding up the scenery.
I despise Carter. I kind of like Vala though at times her over the topness annoys me. But yeah...if we could have some kind of BALANCE to the female characters that would great. ::pokes the writers::

I don't want Sheppard in charge because he is even more emotionally charged than Weir. Well, more like his own emotional issues charged, but still. Talking is the first step though. If you don't try that, how can you save face with allies, nevermind Earth? This way at least they've expressed the desire and it doens't break some rule of war or something. Otherwise, they might be as bad as the Genii.
Rachel said she wanted more Teyla back story and use too. Which makes sense.
Vala I like, because she's very Cordelia-like. Says it like she sees it, screw diplomacy. The opposite of Weir, but still just as important. Carter I don't like more because she seems to be Little Miss Perfect, and I hate that. She needs flaws, make her more human and still the good guys.
