too much with myself

Ahoy, there! Wow, this feels weird. Um, okay, it actually hasn't been all that long, I guess, but it seems like it's been really long. Anyway, I've finished my novel thing, thank fucking fuck. Man, that took forever, right? It's about 56 thousand words, and I've been mainlining the Lemonheads - god, the Lemonheads, shut up, they're kind of fantastic, okay? - because my main character has a thing about Evan Dando, and I can't think of a title for the life of me. It's, like, freaking impossible to name. My working title is "Whatever" so that is no help at all, and [livejournal.com profile] starflowers has told me adamantly that I cannot actually name it "Whatever." Darn it. She's also trying to convince me to try and get it legitimately published - which will be so so hard - even though my main character swears like a sailor and is generally an asshole. A lovable asshole, but there it is.

WHATEVER.

There are things finally afoot again over at [livejournal.com profile] sodamnskippy. I will hopefully be participating in our Christmas gift exchange, we shall see. Also, we're in the Urban Dictionary (under "Skippy"), which I think is hilarious.

I have not seen Inception, however I can't stop reading the Arthur/Eames fic. It's all extremely amazing. I never thought I had a well-dressed man fetish before, but I just want to read pages and pages about Arthur's suits, is that weird?

I'm also reading Kakashi/Iruka Naruto fic. That--I have no idea how I got so very into that, since I have no sense of the canon whatsoever. I was just innocently trolling delicious for werewolf fic one day and came across a fun Naruto fandom one, and then I got sucked into a whirling vortex of ninjas, idek.

In three days I will be leaving for St. Thomas until the 5th. I'm very excited to get away from here and my zoo, even though they will all be missed horribly. I will be living it up under the sun, snorkeling, reading fanfic on my kindle, being pestered into hikes and fishing trips with J, it's gonna be awesome.

ANYWHO: I'm not actually here, this is all an illusion *wavy hands* (feel free to let me know what you've been up to anyway).

I've missed you. Arthur/Eames is amazing forever..

Oh hello!

(ARTHUR/EAMES FOR THE (SARTORIAL) WIN. ♥)

I don't know why but the mix of Skippy and Inception in your post has me thinking Mike in one of Arthur's perfectly tailored suits. Oh crap... can I go edit my Holiday fic request...

Congrats on finishing your novel, and happy traveling!

If you don't get your novel published, I will cry, Skooze. Cry tears. Of woe. You have a delightful writing style, and the world at large needs to be exposed to it! Expoooooosed!

Congratulations on finishing it, and I hope you have a fun vacation ♥

UM. A NOVEL?!?!?!? I HAD NOT HEARD OF THIS, BUT GOODNESS, I WANT TO READ IT, LIKE A LOT. A LOT.

I can't believe you were holding out on me!

I have pretty much been colonized by Inception fandom as well. Yep. The suits got me.

*waves* Hey there! Congrats on the book and I bet it'll be awesome! Um, if you're looking for info on getting it published, and don't have the info already, you might check out my newsletter for links to e-publishers (the newsletters for m/m and f/f fiction but a lot of the publishers handle a broad variety of fiction). Here's the link: http://community.livejournal.com/origslash_news/

Also, who is Iruka? I know who Kakashi is but I've never gotten further then 1/2 the first season of the anime but now I'm curious. :D

Enjoy St Thomas! I've heard it's wonderful.

I like "Whatever" as a title!

OMG Kakashi/Iruka ROCKS! I'm sure you know, but just in case, [livejournal.com profile] thehoyden's Naruto fics are BRILLIANT. If you find any awesome ones not by her, I'd love to know:)

Have a fantastic trip!

Why not title it Whatever!. I mean most coming of age kids would say that word. Plus imagine the book cover, blurred background of some kind of scene with a persons bodypart in focus and the word Whatever - A book that is not about pants...or is it. (I feel there should be a reference to pants)

Hugs to you for writing an original works. Always loved your stuff. Have a good break :)

Hi! I'm a super-lurker who's been hanging around for a while--I think since the first bandom-SGA crossover fics, which seems like it was ages ago. ^__^ I never really got around to friending you because I'm a little bit (a lot of bit) terrible at that, but I'm doing that now. Which leads me to...

I'm de-lurking because I really, really love your fanfiction and I'd super-love for you to submit your novel to Less Than Three Press (http://www.lessthanthreepress.com). I'm one of the partners there, so I've got something of a vested interest (and you could count on one vote yes going in!). Our main requirements for story submissions are that they include slash and happy endings, which from what I've read of your fanfic, is pretty standard fare for you.

Also, if you decide LT3 isn't the right fit, for whatever reason, I will totally understand. ^__^ If you haven't been pointed in this direction yet, Duotrope's Digest (http://www.duotrope.com) is an awesome resource for searching out publishers who are accepting submissions and their requirements for submission. ^__^ Good luck! I'll be continuing to look and I'll definitely buy wherever you do get published!

Bout damn time!!!

[identity profile] absolut-jmo.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, you do need to get it f'rls published! Also...don't kill me but I like the title 'Whatever'. Would make people pick it up.

[identity profile] blindmouse.livejournal.com 2010-10-30 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Are you going to try to get a literary agent? Because you're certainly good enough to get a mainstream publisher, and an agent would know which ones might be amenable to this kind of story :)

OH MY GOD FINE! Name it Whatever! Stop turning your legions of fans against me! It's a fine title!

Okay, my only concern is that, in a query letter, it might read funny.

The novel, Whatever, is a coming-of-age story about Michael Tate, loveable asshole, etc etc.

Instead of, like...

The novel, Michael Tate's Big Gay Christmas, is a coming-of-age...

Hahaha.

Please name it Michael Tate's Big Gay Christmas.

But if you're really attached enough to Whatever to get all these people behind you, ignore me and name it that, damn it!

Also... Oh. I am editing! Mildly distracted by Evan and Connor shenanigans, but working on it! It just seems such a waste of time since it's nearly perfect!!
