hi everyone

thank you for all the well-wishing. you guys are the absolute best. J is home now. He had what the cardiologist called class one heart failure. Essentially, parts of his heart were spasming and shutting down, so while his heart should have been pumping at 60 percent, he was only at about 35. They went in and fixed some thinning of the arteries, but at least the parts of the heart that are working are in great condition. He has an atypical heart failure, because most people have clogged arteries, and he doesn't. Right now he's on medication and he's not allowed to have caffiene of any kind.

He's sort of prone to anxiety, so right now he's not doing too well on the relaxing front. He's sort of freaking himself out, so we're thinking he's going to have to get something to handle that. What a mess. Thank god he's out of the hospital, though. And I'm going back to work.

I'm so glad he's doing better. Best wishes to both of you!

I;m so glad to hear he's okay! Now, if you could just get him to destress...

[identity profile] skoosiepants.livejournal.com 2007-01-21 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! They had to put him on anxiety meds, and they make him totally loopy, but at least he's home!

[identity profile] amori-maris.livejournal.com 2007-01-18 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank goodness he's doing better!!!

This may sound trivial, but playing video games always helps Andrew destress because they make him focus on the puzzles and things instead of the scary stuff. It might help, especially if J's on bed-rest or something similar.

*hugs to you both*

[identity profile] skoosiepants.livejournal.com 2007-01-21 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

Right now, he's taking pictures of his corals and fish - and he should be on bed rest, but of course he can't sit still.

Best wishes, and best of luck to J with the getting better.

My dad's cardiologists told him to have a glass of wine with dinner to mellow him out, but as a minister and life-long teetotler, he had a rough time with it. Actually, the wine stressed him out. It was pretty funny. He made the most horrible faces.

So we made him watch Roadrunner cartoons after work, sit in a porch swing and bought him some girly wine coolers. Worked a lot better.

[identity profile] skoosiepants.livejournal.com 2007-01-21 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
ooooo, roadrunner cartoons. awesome stress reliever *nods*

Wonderful news! I hope J continues to recover well. Don't forget to de-stress yourself while you are helping J. Big hugs, sweetie.

Honeycakes, good lord. I'm glad he's alright. I hope he does relax. Tell him if he doesn't, you'll watch SGA and SG-1 before April. Or something. But yay for not having to stay in the hospital. Though, that depends. Can you cook? If not, the hospital might have at least fed him. ;)

[identity profile] skoosiepants.livejournal.com 2007-01-21 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
dude, it came out of nowhere. he's in perfect health, goes to the gym, runs, and his heart just... broke. *shakes head* scariest week ever.

I can cook, but I don't like to :) His mom brough over a bunch of food for us.

*blinks* Wow, that's just odd. Did they find out what caused it? Any idea?

*grins* Good thing she took care of you, then.

[identity profile] skoosiepants.livejournal.com 2007-01-21 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
They're not sure, but his aunt's a trauma nurse, and she said that she's seen it happen before. Just very scary and freaky.

You'd think with all those fancy machines, they could diagnosis quickly. Plus, you know, degrees they paid out the butt for.

[identity profile] skoosiepants.livejournal.com 2007-01-21 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm guessing they told J something while I was out of the room... he had about five different cardiologists, and I only talked to one.

I dont really know what to say except I'm glad J's doing better and I'd suggest some very bad dvds to help with the relaxing. I'm thinking Breakin 2: Electric Bugaloo.

[identity profile] skoosiepants.livejournal.com 2007-01-21 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
thank you, darling! ooooo, I only wish I had a copy of breakin' 2.

Oh, man, how stressed out you both must be. *hugs* And, of course, consciously trying to relax is the most horribly paradoxical situation anyone can be in, ever.

[identity profile] skoosiepants.livejournal.com 2007-01-21 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't help that the side effects of the meds he's on make him dizzy, and if he does things to fast, he thinks it's happening all over again and freaks himself out *shakes head*
