Teen Witch: The Movie Discussion

So Teen Witch is probably one of the worst movies ever made. It’s creepy, it’s cheesy, it’s got *flails* the absolute worst music, plus actual singing and dancing – and all that combined gives it that extra special awesome so many 80s movies have. That sparkle. That thing that makes you want to hide behind your hands and peek out through your fingers.

All the popular girls like boys. You’ll notice Louise sort of watching them make fools of themselves in the locker room. Louise also likes boys. Louise = Ryan Ross.
Polly is Louise’s best friend, who happens to like Rhet, who is this funky jackass. Rhet likes to rap about how awesome he is. Now, picture this scene with Jon Walker, Siska and Tom Conrad. I wish I could’ve made them rap in the story, but maybe JWalk isn’t funky enough, ya know? Jon Walker is also not a jackass. Obviously. Polly = Spencer Smith, minus the awesome hat and way with words.
Louise decides that being a witch isn’t enough to make her cool. She needs to cast a popularity spell. Thus we get possibly the most cheesetastic 80s movie montage of all time. Although Louise does this mincing cool-walk and hair tossing and coy smiles, Ryan is not actually dumb enough to think this is fine and dandy.
There might be better movie endings in the history of ever, but I challenge you to find one. Louise says to hell with her popular status, because damn it, Brad should like her for her and not her rad shoulder pads and tulle skirt thingy and, god, huge freaking hair, which apparently were synonymous with popularity in this school and the land of 80s Hollywood. Although, seriously, it’s not like her new chic look disappeared all of a sudden. There is something deeply wrong with this movie. Also, that tiny lady from Poltergeist? That’s Madam Serena, creepily affectionate gypsy guru. Madam Serena = Pete Wentz.
Anywho, here are some tracks to download, because I know you want to listen to these songs over and over again, and memorize all the words and sing them with your friends, and possibly learn the Top That dance and hang out in front of your house by your mom’s car and impress all your neighbors.
