This story just landed itself squarely in the middle of my top five favourites of all the fics I have ever read on the whole internet. (Of which there are roughly 4.800, in case you were wondering.) I am not exaggerating, either.
Of all the fictional pets I have ever read about, from either made-up or real races, I have never fallen in love with any of them so much or so instantly as I have with Ernie. Your descriptions of him and his behavious have obviously pushed some puttons I never knew I had (and still don't know what they are).
And watching the way Radek, Rodney and John all cared for him in different ways, as well as watching the Rodney/John friendship turn so effortlessly into a loving relationship, was just wonderful.
The image of John sitting on Rodney's lap, with Ernie holding them together, made me both laugh and go "Aww".
Your voices and characterization feel spot-on, so much that I could hear them talk in my head, especially Rodney.
I feel all warm and happy now, and can't stop smiling at the screen. This is going to be one of the fics I'll read over and over again when I feel bad, to pick me up.
