For some unknown reason, probably the crappy weather – 50s! In June! – I am in a dissatisfied funk. So I’ve decided to list some things that I love today, right this minute. Feel free to play along in the comments with stuff you love, too! We can squee about things together!
ETA: cut tag, 'cause I didn't realize how fucking long this list is!
I, SkoosiePants, LOVE...
* The jeans I’m wearing today, since they actually make me look like I have an ass.
* Listening to my iPod on shuffle, ‘cause there’s nothing better than having MJ & Paul’s Say Say Say sandwiched between two Saosin songs. Also: random Pippin tracks! Ben Vereen, there’s magic to do.
* Ellie, even though she poops by the front door instead of waking us up in the morning, because she’s Mama’s Little Baby Girl.
* Coffee. Coffee, coffee, coffee.
* Bob motherfucking Bryar.
* Pirate Booty, because she makes me laugh like no one else can, and because we used to raise imaginary horses together. Yes, that’s right. Imaginary horses. For years. And I had a tiger, too. He was awesome. Oh, and lots of invisible dogs. Lots.
* J, for everything, but mainly because he just told my minister that he wanted me to walk down the aisle to the Star Wars theme, wearing a Darth Vader costume, while he waited at the altar dressed as Chewbacca. My minister. At our very first counseling meeting.
* Everyone that’s followed me into bandslash and everyone that hasn’t followed me, but is totally supportive anyway. And by supportive I mean pointing and laughing and saying things like, “Who the fuck are all these guys, anyway, and why do they look like girls?” Or, or! That one time, when one of my flisters – who? Raise your hand! Be proud! – said that one (one?) gorgeous pic of Gerard Way looked like a young David Cassidy! HA!
* My SGA flisters, since I’ve yet to get any death threats over my lack of ficcing - special emphasis on the word yet.
*
clumsygyrl, for writing that comment-fic thingy with me, even if it doesn’t go anywhere, because it’s actually my first ever collaboration in any fandom ever, so that’s sort of a milestone, right?
* Steaming hot oatmeal. Shut up, it’s good.
* David Hewlett, whose awesomeness marginally outshines Jon Walker’s, but only because he’s older and has had more time to hone and fine-tune it (also, okay, see: David Hewlett’s yet-to-be-matched, perfectly shaped ass). If Jon Walker and David Hewlett were ever in the same room, I think the world might implode – that much awesomeness was simply not meant to exist all at once.
* Pens. They’re not just for furry space octopuses. Octopi?
* That episode of How I Met Your Mother (no, not the Robin Sparkles one, although I also love that more than kittens) with the flashbacks to Ted and Marshall’s road trip, where I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) was stuck in the tape deck. (I love it in the same way I love that old car commercial – Saturn, maybe? – where they just play Van Halen’s Panama over and over again as they drive cross-country, and the one guy keeps rocking out and the other one looks like he wants to shoot himself in the head). You know what? Screw it; I just want to make out with all the writers of that show. And then I want them to write fanfiction, because whatever they put to paper is instant comedy gold.
* Okay, and while we’re – kind of – on the subject of commercials: That one old commercial for Wampler meats, where the guy is kneeling down in a field, looking out across a canyon or something, blue, sparkling sky, and the guy says, all teary-eyed, “it’s so beautiful,” in this really choked-up voice, and then the camera pulls back to reveal he’s gazing adoringly at a cooler full of raw chicken, and okay, okay, I have ALWAYS found that hilarious, and I don’t know why.
* Pizza. Pizza with mozzarella and ricotta cheese and lots and lots of sauce.
* My green Pirates Arrrr Cool t-shirt. Pirate Booty swears it’s the only t-shirt I own, because whenever I see her I’m wearing it. And my gray yoga pants. But, see, I’m just representin’, PB!
* Users who are nice to me on the phone. Hi, I work on websites, and if you’re nice to me, I don’t care that you’re an 85-year-old retired doctor who’s never used a mouse before, and it takes an hour for me to walk you through logging in – if you’re nice to me, I will hang up the phone smiling.
* My blankies. They protect me from vampires.
Wow, I feel so much better now. I’m GRINNING. Come share and grin with me!

Date: 2007-06-14 05:35 pm (UTC)* My son, who, even though he breaks everything in sight, still found my flash-drive with all my class' papers and grades on it in a matter of minutes, even though I had been searching for it for a week.
*My elder daughter, even though she's spoilt rotten, because she tries and succeeds at wonderful recipes, and is a snugglebunny.
*My younger daughter, even though she wants badly to be ghetto-fabulous, because every once in a while I see a flash of a really great person in there, once all the oofarb is out of the way.

Date: 2007-06-14 06:31 pm (UTC)Poetrychik here, and I love:
*My girlfriend, who is basically turning her life upside down right now so that we can move in togetherand form a life together. It makes all of the changes that I'm making (moving out of state, finding a new job while still commuting to the old one, etc) seem much less scary.
*My father, who, depsite being a pastor and not knowing the whole story, still loves me and is trying hard to understand and be uber supportive. Right now, he's rearranging his schedule for Saturday, so that he can take my bed up to the girlfriend's (she has a waterbed that's playing havock on my back)and also schlep some boxes up for me. I've never been prouder to call myself his daughter.
*My girlfriend's son, who's 11 and on the verge of puberty. He's so wicked smart... He sat there, quietly, absorbing everything, and then gave us a huge smile and was just happy and supportive of us. He's always giving me hugs and telling me he loves me. I've always been afraid of having kids, but he makes me glad that he's a huge part of my life.
*I love my new and adopted town, Binghamton, NY. Yes, I miss my parents, but I really do love it here. So much interesting stuff happening: Greek fest, Speedie fest (added attractions there of Brian Littrel (Backstreet Boys) and Mario Lopez (Dancing with the Stars and Saved by the Bell) making appearances AND giving autographs), and the NY State fair...
*I love my 4 dogs and miss them like crazy. They all have different personalities and I'm always sad to leave them behind.
*Watching *NSYNC dvds and laughing and smiling all cuddled up with the girlfriend. One of my favorite parts has to be some old footage of the guys in a limo. They're all rocking out to The Proclaimers, singing I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles). I absolutely love that song and to see Lance, sitting by Chris and JC (one of my FAVORITE trios) and Joey and Justin sticking their faces in occaionally (I think Joey was videotaping it) had us squeeing and laughing and just having as wonderful of a time as they were! *does the happy dance*
*Pizza Hut pan pizza. Yum! Ok, I like pizza in general, but there's something about that stuff... ;)
*My new sarcastic t-shirts from Walmart
*Being a size 10 for the first time since high school (over 13 years now).
*Being able to truly be myself and not have to worry about it, or what other people will think of me.
*David Hewlet and SGA. I absolutely love David! His blogs are the bomb!
*Lance Bass. He came out, is writing a book, working on a TV show and seems to be having the time of his life! Freedom looks really fabulous on my boy and I hope it looks that good on me as well...
*My plot bunnies for the popslash that I have stuck in my head and in my hard drive... lol!
*Reading all of the slash in my favoriet fandoms: Harry Potter, Popslash, SGA, Firefly, NCIS, & Smallville.
*Writing my RP w/the girlfriend and having a blast. It's pure crack and a fusion of Harry Potter and Popslash. We have one reader and would write it just for the sheer joy of it. All of our service people and one of the kids are named Melanie after her... ;)
*My Gameboy Color. I know its retro, but the thing is practically indestructable and SO much fun! There's thousands of games out there! Which leads me to another love...
*Ebay! Ebay! Ebay! :D Oh how I love thee! There's so much cool stuff! :D
Well, I think that's about it. Sorry it was so long, but I just got on a roll...

Date: 2007-06-14 07:39 pm (UTC)- my duvet. OMG do i love my duvet. Especially since it's all grey outside now, and just the right temperature to still snuggle up.
- my palmpilot, since that means i get to read fic in bed! <3<3<3
- W because even though things are really stressful at the moment he can still make me laugh. And feel blessed.
- my friends because they've been utter bricks, and have helped to keep me going.
- sga, with their blogging, and being cute, and jumping on each other and generally making me smile, and laugh and think 'omg dorks <3!' at least twice a day.
- the lemon scented bath foam my sister bought, which i'm going to go use in a few minutes.
- my new allergy pills, which might be wicked expensive, but also might actually work!
*smiles*

Date: 2007-06-14 08:04 pm (UTC)-My laptop. Four years, two drops, one on the stairs, one completely depleated battery, two doom-filled anaylsises from Mac specialists, and it's still going strong. It loves me like Iove it, and doesn't ever give up.
-You, Ms. Skoosiepants, becuase you outshine even David Hewlett with your awesome.
-The word 'awesome'. Because, well. Yeah.
-My dad, for listening me babble about Sarah Lawrence and yes, I know it's expensive but, I'd give my left foot to go there, so listening to me, and saying, okay. Okay, let's get some paperwork together, and see when we can visit.
-My mom. For giving up going, full ride, to one of the best universites in the world so she could minimum wage to help support her mother and family. For finally following her dreams and going to culinary school, and doing so well. For loving her kids more than life itself.
-Bandom, and all the bands therein. But especially Gerard. For being beautiful and smart and so damn pro-women. And Frank. For his pot-giggle and kissing G and for him not understanding homophobia.
-My dog. For not getting mad at me when I call her a fat ass and try to push her off the bed and for being so damn adorable when she wants to go out, spinning in circles and widening her eyes and doing a little growly thing.
-Speaking of commercials- that one Liberty Mutual commercial, where it's the chain-of-doing-good-things. It makes me feel like such a sap because I'm always like, near tears by the time its over.
-Sushi. Mmmmmm. sushi. I could eat Mikeyway's weight in sushi. Because, at least for me, I could eat a lot of it, but never feel gross or bloated. Just sort of clean and fresh.
-To end with one you started, because this is getting ridiculously long so I might finish it in my journal: My two year old jeans from Gap, the ones that the inner thighs and back right pocket have worn out on so I've (badly) patched them with paisely fabic and iron-on demin patches. The ones that are the right length in that they aren't short enough to annoy me, or long enough to trip me.
*grins* Bob Motherfucking Byar, damn right, my friend.

Date: 2007-06-15 04:48 am (UTC)Let me see, I love chocolate milk, my Rainbow Rob penguin book, comics, flip-flops, ice cream, how goddamn gay Tim Drake is [Robin--I can't really judge about the bandslash so much, see?] people who give me stuff for free, my tiara, the pen I got at work that writes in four colors, all my Shep icons, and star wars jokes about pants.
Also, glitter and cotton candy.

Date: 2007-06-15 02:51 pm (UTC)So, things I love:
-My roommies, because, even though we're literally spread out around the globe for our summer internships, we're keeping in touch. Because they put up with my sometimes random, increasingly long e-mails. And because they put up with me when we're together.
-My Dad, because he wants me to be able to do everything I want to do even when we can't really afford it. And because he e-mails me every week despite the fact that I suck at responding.
-My Mom, because even though she sometimes drives me up the wall, I know she only has the best of intentions. She's the best. And she makes a mean cheesecake.
-Uhmmm... I'll skip the rest of my family but I really love them too!
-Pizza, really good, warm and yummy cheese pizza.
-Chocolate...because, yeah, I mean come on its chocolate!
-My new boxer clad bear, Brøndby, who I picked as my one souvenir from Denmark.
-All the awesome fanfic writers out there. Because they're not afraid to show their stuff and because they don't make me feel bad about lurking (mostly) even though LJ occasionally makes me feel vaguely stalkerish.
-Skoosie despite the fact that she has now ventured into the world of bandslash. Because she single-handedly introduced me into the world of slash and because she then dragged me into SGA and I've never been so much into something I don't actually have first hand knowledge in before (SGA and not slash, although I don't really have first hand knowledge in that either). Actually, come to think, I'm not sure that's something I should love you for... *ponders* ;)
And really *points to comments about SGA flisters*, we wouldn't send you death threats, I mean, it would be a bit counterproductive to kill you. But, if you think you can be bribed we are all ears. :D
Ok, I think that's it.
I can see what you mean about the grinning though. Who would have thought thinking about things you love would bring a smile to your face? :D

Date: 2007-06-16 10:30 am (UTC)So yeah, I'll put my two cents in:
☆ I love that I can finally see me being something other than a mom. Especially since its looking like birthing children is nothing but a far-fetched dream for me.
☆ I Love that life is still scary, no matter how routine it seems to get. Even if that is one of things I am always complaining about.
☆ I love unusual music. Especially combinations of fairly new American styles with nearly ancient styles, like Jazz and Durges.
☆ I love theater, of all sorts. Even like the play Breathe, which is literally nothing but a man sitting on stage and inhaling and exhaling once in 45seconds.
☆ I love the pregnancy test commercial that uses the line "The most sophisticated piece of equipment you will ever pee on." ;o)
☆ I love ;o) and the phrase 'what kinda shiznat iz dat?' because I have yet to find a situation where I could not use either of them.

Date: 2007-06-16 02:16 pm (UTC)- Not having classes for the next four weeks, and being able to spend my entire day reading and cooking and napping as I see fit.
- Sherlock Holmes, which I recently found an online archive of, because I swear to God, it's like the Alpha and Omega of literary slash. It's just fantastic.
- This amazing recipe for bread I found, using honey and olive oil and turning out the most perfect, crisp, fluffy, delicious rolls and pizza bases and whatever other use you can turn dough to. If we had a deep-fryer, I swear I'd make donuts.
- Doctor Who. This, I feel, needs no elaboration.
- My sister and her girlfriend, who have sold their flat and are moving into a beautiful house with a garden, and who are getting married next year.
- My flist, because it's full of awesome ladies who say, "WTF is this wank in our various fandoms? Let us defy it with love memes and porn!"
- My friends here, because they don't let me sit by myself and get bored when the could be employing me to entertain them and help them stick pictures of naked men to their walls. I love them so. <3
