Hello again with the WOWs from the lurker! I feel shamed, since I have NEVER seen One Crazy Summer, and now I really want to, even though I know it will pale now in comparison to my imaginings of the boys here... but WOW. It strikes my curiosity to see how much you took from the movie and how much is your interpretation... Now I have to find the movie somewhere!
And this is something I love in all your stories, and again here, that your Pete/Patrick dynamic is so subtle, yet so strong... I think someone else said that, but it bears repeating. This, from the end, was really powerful (because Patrick is Magic):
Patrick says, “Ah-yep,” tugs his hat down lower over his eyes, and Pete. Pete, Spencer thinks, is close to the luckiest boy in the world to have all that on his side. Patrick, Spencer thinks, is apparently magic.
And yeah, I had never really appreciated the Panic! boys until I started reading your stories, and the way you write them is so overwhelmingly amazing. I think I'm a little in love with your Spencer.
So yeah. YAY! I *heart* you and want to give you all the encouragement to keep writing! Thank you so much for writing!
