You know what was a good movie? And by good movie, I mean really, really bad?

Teen Witch. TOP THAT!

oh dude. It's an experience. The imdb (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0098453/) doesn't do it justice. There's a rapping scene that's just. just... *is speechless*

Dude, Teen Witch was awesomely bad. The fashion, though? Timeless. And is my mind playing tricks on me, or were there not several music sequences to it? That ups the awesomely bad factor exponentially.

Let's see...how about Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089208/)? *shudder* I can't think of one without thinking about the other. Helen Hunt and Sarah Jessica Parker are forever linked in my mind, dressed in very regrettable 80s clothes.

And if you have not seen Shag (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098300/), which I really and truly honestly adore despite its off-the-charts cheese factor, I implore you here and now to get your hands on it.

The rapping. Dude. And all the dance sequences and just. gah. best ever.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun! With the dance show! God, I love bad 80s movies. But I have never seen Shag, I don't think, so I must go find a copy.

Is that one where the dude is a surfer and he has to figure out how to skate on rollerblades? And Oz from Buffy is in it? And the guy is in love with the bully's little sister?

I vaguely remember him. I just remember having a huge crush on the main guy. Shane something, I think. The BEST part of that movie though? The Not-Oz dressing up in those ridiculous clothes for the date.

oh GOD.

i remember loving that movie when i was...more of a wee child than i am. oh the memories.

isnt there a part in that when the main character, the "Teen Witch", if you will, is trying to seduce the guy she tutors and has an enormous crush on with a love potion or something? and she puts red kerchiefs on her lamps and puts all her chairs in the closet so he'll have to sit on the bed with her?

GAH! it's so lame, i love it. :D

Damn, did I love that movie. I would watch it over and over again, except for the 'love scene'; I'd fast forward through that part because at the time I thought it was yucky. In some ways, I still find it kind of yucky, what with the whole moral ambiguity of it.

Since I don't know the rules of livejournal or anything and I don't know what the rules are on off topic posting I'm just going to stick this here and hope this is where it is supposed to go. Skoosie, I am a die hard lurker of your journal and hard core HP Freak which is what originally led me here. I am also, incidentally, a avid follower of Stargate SG-1 but I don't know enough about SGA to be able to get into your SGA fic. Could someone (anyone!?) do a bare bones synopsis of the characters and salient plot details so that I can get into some of the fanfic, because it looks really fun. Please? I am never at home at a time that I can watch SGA and it is killing me! I really want to expand my fanfic reading pool and I could really use the help.

*puppydogeyes*

you can't resist the puppy dog eyes. don't even try.

Oh wow. Wow, don't get me started!! Um. Of course, I'd really advise you getting the first season on DVD, because it is awesome. For an overview of the Atlantis vs SG-1, go see this post of merryish's (http://merryish.livejournal.com/137394.html), which is hilarious. For a really vague but fun overview, go here. (http://throughadoor.livejournal.com/570427.html)

But here are some plot points for me:
SG-1 finds the Chair in Antartica, and think they have the address for the Lost City of The Ancients, yet it won't dial. Daniel figures out that its in another galaxy, and thus it's an 8 symbol dialing sequence, not 7. Major John Sheppard shows up, lights up the Chair because he has the strongest ATA gene (Ancient gene) ever, and they instantly want him on the expedition.
It's bound to be a one-way trip, because it's so far away, and they don't know if they'll have enough power on the other end to power up the gate.
Dr. Elizabeth Weir heads the expedition. Dr. Rodney McKay is head of the Science Team (Radek Zelenka is under him, as well as the irritating Dr. Kavanagh) Col. Sumner is head of the military contingient. He hate's John.
They step through the gate, realize Atlantis is on the bottom of the ocean, and that the city lights up for people with the ATA gene. Unfortunately, they don't have the power for that, and the city starts breaking apart under the water. To find a safe place to stay, they gate through to another planet, and meet Teyla Emmagan and the Athosians, who they eventually have to evacuate to Atlantis, because the Wraith, space vampires of a sort, eat people, and have culled their planet - they also manage to scoop up several Atlantis military men, so John decides to stage a rescue mission. During the mission, Sumner dies, leaving John military head of Atlantis, and also, they manage to wake up all the Wraith in the galaxy, starting a full-out war of sorts. Oh, and the city triggers a failsafe when the systems start failing from power loss, and it rises from the bottom of the ocean. pretty impressive. So they don't have to evacuate. Also, they let the Athosians settle on a land mass near by on the same planet.
So the rest of season one is John and Rodney and Teyla (the Athosian) and Lt. Aiden Ford (second in command) going to different planets to try and a) trade for food and b) find allies to fight the Wraith, because the Wraith want the coordinates for Earth, so they can have a new hunting ground.
A bunch of stuff happens, including a Wraith attack that leaves Ford half-crazy, the arival of the Daedulas from earth, along with Col. Caldwell (skinner from the xfiles), a promotion for John to Lt. Col., the addition of Ronon Dex to John's team to replace Ford.
Um. Wow, that was all over the place. Does any of that even make sense? Do you have any questions???
