So I disclaim a lot of stuff by saying it's self-indulgent.

I'm pretty sure this is the most self-indulgent thing I've ever written, though. Seriously, the more I write in this 'verse, the more the characters become their own separate-from-sga entities, and it should be bad, but it's too much fun!

I've got Cadman and Rodney squabbling with affection like siblings and Bates looking after them with gruff, protective urges and Parrish is the laid-back herbally enhanced lead singer. John is sort of... finding his place. I think that's mostly what it's about. He just wants to drum. So it's weird because I don't have the team dynamic how it is in the show, with Ronon and Teyla, but they show up in weird little extra roles that I think leave a huge impression on John anyhow.

I've also chosen to write this in present tense, as you can tell from the snippets, which I've only ever attempted one other time (I think). I don't think I have the words to say why, it just fit with John this time around.

And all this makes it sound serious, and it kind of is, but mostly it's just about friendship. At this point, it's all pre-slash or gen or implied. It's only about 4500 words right now, though, and there's still more to write!
