Yes, I'm a big cheese

Hope everyone had a happy holiday! I had the best. Got all sorts of stuff I won't bore you with, but everything I wanted *grins* And my bro was home from Atlanta and we had family movie day. We watched Chronicles of Riddick and Elf. I love Riddick. I love Pitch Black better, but Riddick is awesome. And the DVD has all these extra scenes so it was almost like watching it for the first time!
And notice my fine new icon that
sanityinstrife made for me. *loves her* Best. Holiday. Ever.
Anywho, I would have posted this last night, but I wasn't anywhere near a comp until now. So it's a little belated. But I wrote this years ago, and illustrated a book for it, and my mom reads it to her class every year, so I thought I'd share. Yes, it's a children's story written for my rabbits (I used to have two, but Quincy passed last year. He was a mixed brown lop.) It's hugely cheesy. *grins*

Christmas for Happy
On Christmas Eve night Quincy lay dreaming,
But Happy herself was too happy to be sleeping.
She thought of the goodies stacked under the tree
And couldn’t help wiggling and giggling in glee.
There’d be dried apples slices and wrapped bags of hay,
And cardboard, paper and baskets they could rip up all day.
And in each of their stockings there’d be yummy shelled peanuts,
And, baked especially for them, reindeer shaped biscuits.
Smiling up at the ceiling, Happy thought of it all,
But she started when she heard a soft noise down the hall.
She froze hard to listen and heard faintly the sound,
Over Quincy’s light snoring, of something hitting the ground.
“Santa!” Happy whispered, and hopped out of her bed.
Then she rushed over to Quincy and tapped on his head.
“Wake up!” Happy cried. “Santa is here!”
“Wake up!” she shouted and ran towards the stairs.
“He’s bringing our goodies! He’s bringing our treats!
He’s bringing us lots of good stuff to eat!”
“Food?” Quincy grumbled as he yawned out his sleep,
Then he jumped onto the floor in one clumsy leap.
The house was all quiet except for themselves
And the rustling and jingling of Santa’s sleigh bells.
They crept down the hall on soft bunny paws.
In the den, Happy gasped and looked up in awe.
The room was lit up with candles and holly
And red ribbons and pine boughs made it all look so jolly.
But alas, there was no Santa, no Santa at all,
And out of the window Happy saw snow start to fall.
In the distance she thought she could still hear his voice,
And the ringing of sleigh bells as he delivered his toys.
They missed him again, as they did every year.
He was too clever for them, and he never appeared.
Happy sighed as she looked out the snow-frosted pane,
Quincy sidled up next to her and said “foiled again.”
But they smiled at each other and then cuddled up close,
And sat there in silence, tail to tail, nose to nose.
The End.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone. *hugs you*
