I. Don't know. It just happened. Okay, but not, like *flails hands* I'm not writing Steve Perry, okay? Just Steve Perry references, and I'm going to blame Gabe. As you do.

J and I bought a huge flat screen TV this weekend. I think we're going to hang it over the piano. I just about threw up at the cost, but I promised him months ago that he could have it, and now he's making noise about using the honeymoon money to buy new living room furniture, and the sad part is that I'm leaving that up to him, because I'm a homebody, and I hate going away. No, wait. It's not that I hate going away, it's that I hate the planning involved. I've been everywhere with my fam, because my dad's an awesome planner, and all I'd have to do is show up in the car with my pillow and we'd be off! I hate being an adult :(

My hands are so dry. Does anyone have good hand lotion recs? Nothing seems to work. Although, I do have a bit of a hand washing compulsion, so that doesn't help.

No one will see Panic with me. I am sad.

I don't know if you live in an area that has Trader Joes but I like their "a midsummer night's cream" extra dry formula.

Neutrogena is good, I also like Lubriderm and Aveeno. Eucerin is hypoallergenic.

Not actual lotions: When I've had a bad dry skin spell, I've also used petroleum jelly. It probably isn't good for long term use, but boy, does it ever seal the skin up!

I've also used an exfoliating paste made with about 3 tablespoons of sugar to one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. I admit to being reaaaallllly easily amused and watching the water pool up and on my skin *g*

Hope that helps!

Petroleum jelly, eh? Do you leave it on for a while and then wash it off? Or does it soak into the skin? I'm just thinking it'd be messy?

My dad is the exact same way. When I realized that I'd have to like call hotels and figure out how to work things out to actually have a honeymoon, I gave up. We stayed in a hotel in Inidanapolis (which is like an hour away) and watched a lot of Cartoon Network. So pathetic.

For hands, one thing that works well (if you can find it) is an udder balm. It's kind of gross to think about, but a lot of people use it on their hands because it's just really good for any chapped or super dry skin. There's one brand called "Bag Balm" I think. Don't know where to get it though.

Don't be sad! Come anyway and hang out in line weeping at the retchedness of that venue.

Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream. No shit, this is the best hand lotion EVAR. I tell no lies--it was developed for Norwegian fishermen or some such nonsense because their hands were falling-off-their-arms-level-of-chapped/dry. So it is pretty amazing stuff.

Pee ess: I am really excited about Teen Witch.

When is your Panic show? I might be convinced to make the trip to PA, depending on the date (seriously).

As for hand lotion, I have the same problem. A handwashing compulsion, and the resulting dry hands. Try Reli On Daily Skin Therapy Cream. They sell it with the diabetic supplies at Walmart. Seriously, the ONLY PLACE you can find it. It is amazing stuff.

I have a hand lotion rec, and if you don't actually do anything with it, at least it should make you laugh. You know why? Because it's something called (I kid you not) Udderly SMooth. And do you know WHY it's called that? Because it was original made as udder cream. You know, for cows. :D In all seriousness, though, my granny swears by this stuff, and her 87-year-old skin is a pretty good testimonial. It's a bizarre concept, but it works really well and isn't greasy at all. The company has pretty much completely shifted over to marketing their stuff to people at this point.

For lotion, there's this Cocoa Butter stuff called Palmer's (which I think is very clever) that I use during the winter when my excema gets really horrible and I have to lotionate or risk bleeding to death. It smells *really* good! Honestly, it smells so good that it makes me hungry if I use it too soon to lunch time. :D The best part about it, though, is that it's not greasy at all. I can apply it to my wrists, rub it in, and start typing right away without getting the keys all slippery. Plus, you don't really need that much, either. I've been using the same fat two-inch tall tube for four months now!

I work in a preschool, so I wash my hands a million times a day and they've never been dry before but now they're so dry they hurt! And I just bought this hand cream today which seems fantastic, so far, though it smells a bit herby. It's got a different sort of texture than most hand creams I've tried. It's called Herbacin Kamille.

Neutrogena is really good. It's not greasy and you only need a tiny bit each time because it's concentrated. Also, fingerless gloves help with the skin-not-drying-out-as-much (I say fingerless because then you can still do things like write with them on).
