I don't know much about chemistry, but allotropy1 could be like having all of the Alexes in Atlanis.
When you have different forms of an element in the same state. The relationship that white phosphorus and red phosphorus have to each other is that they're allotropes.
I like what druidspell said above. though I just wanted to say---I read Supersaturation and all of its relations much earlier this (school) year, and, as it happens, I'm studying chemistry this year. as the year went/goes on, learning about the terms that are fic titles brought much grinning into class. :D
