Time for another round of I LOVE...
May. 15th, 2008 01:43 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
This has been a bummer of a week and I need a smile, and I think you all need smiles, too. Some of you might remember how this works when I did this, uh, last year? But! I'm gonna write up a list of things I love, and then you write up a list of things you love in my comments, and we all have this huge fest of love and happiness and it's awesome :)
I, SkoosiePants, LOVE...
* you guys. Some of you have known me for years, and that’s crazy awesome, and some of you are new and it just constantly amazes me that you all want to hang around and know me. All your support overwhelms me at times.
* my zoo, because even though they drive me insane, they are fuzzy bundles of cuteness and can always make me smile: Roxy, who’s a giant asshole brat, but follows me around the house and has to be touching me at all times. Moose, who’s a complete goofy moron, but has the sweetest disposition and will eat almost anything, fruit, veggies, sticks, rocks. Chewie, who is spoiled, spoiled, spoiled, but is the cutest little dog in all of puppet land. Maude, who begs like a dog at dinner and tips over water glasses at 4 in morning to get attention, but answers to Mau-Mau and cuddles in my lap every night for purrs and rubs. Myrtle, who drops things off the windowsill onto my head in the middle of the night, but gets lost in the basement and cries her little pathetic cry until J goes and rescues her from, like, the utility sink or the closet or something. Happy, my little bunny matriarch, who reached the great age of 9 and completely forgot how to use a litter box and has to go to the vet every two months to get her teeth done, but who loves head rubs and nibbles on toes when she wants pets and still knows what time dinner is. And now little Mildred, who we absolutely do not need, but who the vet said is underweight and dehydrated and has a funny gait, and was living in an aquarium and purrs, purrs, purrs whenever you even look at her, and rolls over onto her back for licks from Roxy, the shithead pit bull. Um. The reptiles are okay, but those are J’s thing, not mine.
* writing. I love writing. There is absolutely nothing in the world I love doing as much as writing. I have characters talking to each other in my head 24-7, it never goes away, and I love it.
* finding new music! I have this thing. This thing where I download anything I can get my hands on, and someday this may prove fatal for my beloved laptop (although hopefully not), but I can’t stop downloading new music. I will download anything I vaguely recognize, and I will download any song that has a cool-weird-catchy name or any band that has a cool-weird-catchy name, and those of you who hang around my music journal probably know that. If I like one song by an artist I happen across, I will usually scour the nets for more from that artist, try my best to buy albums, etc, then share them with you. I love sharing music! I love having someone download a mix of mine who has absolutely no clue who any of the artists are, and I love when they love the music anyway.
* riding the train every day. I sit in the same seat and I recognize my fellow passengers, and I get a little upset when my engineer isn’t on duty and, really, riding the train is the most relaxing part of my day. I don’t have to worry about where I’m going or when I’m going to get there. I don’t have to think at all, I can just write in my notebook and listen to my iPod.
* Pirate Booty, who calls me up and leaves long messages on my cell about Brian The Ghost that’s followed her all over the country for years, who forgets to tell me big important things because she always thinks she’s already told me them, who says, “I miss you,” and, “I love you,” to me almost daily, without any reservations.
* J. Because he puts up with me, and I put up with him, and we both know that our, “I hate you,” means the exact opposite, and that we’re both too cool for school. He calls me chum and I call him mean and he buys lizards without telling me and brings home kittens he finds in garages and rounds up lost dogs and I know for a fact he would bawl like a baby if we ever had to give up Roxy.
* Panic, and the fact the Spencer Smith grew up, and that this doesn’t detract at all from his awesomeness. Ryan Ross is a tiny, tiny gentleman who I can never read, Brendon Urie is most likely a tactless dick, and Jon Walker seems like kind of a jerk and I love them all with a burning fiery passion. Also: I love the fact that I can separate the men from the myths, and that I can write these characters that only bear a passing resemblance to the guys they’re based on. I love that I can compartmentalize! Because people who can’t are missing out. Bandom is possibly the greatest place in the world to be. I may be slightly biased.
* my black velour lounge pants, because they’re lounge pants, yet they’re black velour, and no one has called me on the fact that I’m basically wearing pajamas to work one day a week.
* Pens. I put this on my last love list, but hi! Pens! You are awesome and sometimes I name you! I used to work at a police station and I had this super cool pen there named Pony and I even made it a little holster, and mainly this was because I was bored out of my mind at the station all day, but still! PENS YOU OWN ME WITH YOUR INKY GOODNESS.
* bitter black coffee. The devil created you, and then heaven stole you for their very own. Mmmmmmmm, coffee.
I'm outta time, but there! There, I’ve shared some, and now you should share some, because the purpose of the love list is to spread love, and doing this always makes me BEAM. Tell me what you love, do it, do it :)

Date: 2008-05-16 03:39 am (UTC)the Pieces of Flair application on Facebook. It's an evil, evil, evil addiction and I have so much fun with it every single day.
the fact that I'm making up an entire world with some of my very best friends for the sole purpose of playing a better game of D&D and the fact that it's freaking awesome.
i have room for approximately three more books on my third bookshelf. my books make me happy and i can't wait to get more.
my friends bought us food this week when we had no money to go grocery shopping. they amaze me with their overwhelming awesomeness.
my unborn neice and my soon-to-be-sister-in-law, also my little brother for giving them to me.
despite having had no money for the last month i have not yet run out of tea and therefore it's possible that the world will keep turning.
i love the internet because i'm a loser and a quasi-recluse and at least sometimes i feel like i have a life when i get an internet joke.

Date: 2008-05-16 04:25 am (UTC)i love:
-sugar cookies. i just made some, and just. nghh. so good.
-that school is almost over! and then i can read fic and go to the beach and hang out with my friends without homework and projects impeding
-gerber daisies. my favorite flower ever because they're, colorful and can make me smile.
-the smell of vanilla. i have a reed diffuser of vanilla in my room.
-big bertha, my ancient cell phone. it's seriously the size of a house, gets the worst reception ever and i can't rely on it for anything but i've had it forever.
-american history. i am such a slut for it. i read historical fiction, watch john adams (seriously, one of the best shows HBO has ever done), spent three weeks of my summer at "nerd camp" learning about great american legal cases, in AP US History for school. am contemplating a major in it.
-amos lee. that man is an amazing and talented musician. he's heartfelt and genuine and sweet (he taught elementary school kids and they persuaded him to quit and pursue music!) and got me through some rough times.
-that YMCA M&G picture of panic floating around. that's made of awesome
-the daily show. jon stewart is a hilarious guy and does not make me want to gouge my eyes out when i watch the news!
-red nail polish.
-your fic! seriously, it makes me grin like this --> =DDDDD as i read it, because it is perfect. i started watching SG:A because of your fic, and it's made of win. i think i said one time even though we haven't really ever talked before, that you are one of my favorite people in bandom because your writing is gorgeous and you seem so nice and earnest. :)
-the quote, "well-behaved women rarely make history." i have no clue who said it, but it resonated with me when i saw it. it might have to do with my penchant for history *g*.

Date: 2008-05-16 06:02 am (UTC)- the people i've met through fandom. some of the most amazing people i know and a lot of the time i wish they were closer.
- reading. i haven't had much opportunity with school but i've already started reading more. books \o/
- my co-workers. while work isn't all that stimulating, i really, really like the people i work with. it's such an awesome atmosphere to work in and it makes work a lot more bearable.
- writing. even when it's difficult.
- music. especially listening to music in my car. it's like the one place where i can come back to myself.
- my family. they're a little weird, but i don't know what i'd do without them.
♥

Date: 2008-05-16 07:38 am (UTC)-the fact that you posted this. It totally cheered me up after a horrible week.
-that I got my act together and went back to school to study art. That I have fantastic teachers who shock me with how much support and understanding they're willing to give to me. That I realized how happy art makes me, and having my dreams within arms reach is pretty amazing.
-that bandom exists, and I fell head first into it. (And related- that Gerard Way exists, because he makes me feel validated. So what if I'm a crazy art freak who barely socializes! That just means that maybe one day, I too shall become a rockstar! *dies of amusement*)
- Rachael, my best friend in the whole wide world. She's pretty awesome.
- My family. My brother especially, who let me drag him into bandom, and also lets me tag along with him to gigs--even thought I'm the embarrassing older sister. *amused*
And...there is a whole lot more to that list, but I have limited time on the internet right now. *woeface* But uhm, another thank you for this post. It distracted me from Evil Bad Stress and put a grin on my face. :)

Date: 2008-05-16 10:56 am (UTC)Seriously, my experience of live music verges on the religious. It's my ultimate. I was going to several gigs a week for a while, until I remembered that I have to, you know, pay rent and eat and things.
I hope one day you get the chance to feel it too.

Date: 2008-05-16 01:38 pm (UTC)- I love, love, love my new baby girl (yes there was total freak-out when I found out I was having her but it is all okay now)
- My other baby girl (who at 13 and two inches taller than me is not cool with being called 'baby Bit' anymore)
- My guy, 'cause he is smart and cool and loves to cook. (cooking is just not my thing)
- Taff, my geriatric Border Collie. Watching her get old is so hard but she has been a good friend to me for over 15 years.
- The BEACH, where I would live full time if not for the whole trama of hurricane evacuation.
- Pizza and garden tomatoes, the world's most perfect foods.
- Music...Whether playing or listening I could not imagine life without it.
- Sitting on my front porch swing with a glass of tea and either music, a good book or the baby and just enjoying being alive.

Date: 2008-05-16 05:14 pm (UTC)Hi, yes, this. Most of the time he seems like such a complete jerk and I totally love him for it.
Other things I love include but are not limited to:
- avocado. I just made the most delicious salad with avocado and tomatoes and baby spinach and goat cheese and YUM, seriously.
- spring. It's finally here, and it's glorious and the sunshine is giving me freckles and the jasmine bush outside my window smells divine.
- Diana Wynne Jones's books. I'm rereading them (ALL of them) and they are magical and wonderful in every single way.
- music, and the fact that like half of my favourite bands are coming to play right where I live this summer.
- sitting in an airport and listening to all the different languages around me. Endlessly fascinating.

Date: 2008-05-16 06:52 pm (UTC)My family &hearts especially my big brothers. They're the best, or I like to think so anyway.
*My mom. She gets a separate point all to herself. I love her so much.
*All my lj friends
*The baby I baby-sit. He turns 1 at the end of this month. I love that I seem to have been able to instill a love of books in him. He will look at a book instead of play with toys, often. Especially if my niece is playing with the toy he wants. I love teaching him sign-language, it's such a joy every time he learns a new one. I love the little kisses he gives me sometimes. It's amazing watching him grow up and knowing the amount of trust his parents are putting in me.
*Reading. Anything I can get my hands on. I love reading about other peoples lives. I love reading stories, the feeling I get from the authors tone.
*Right now I really enjoy shopping for baby stuff. I know I've probably bought entirely too much stuff and still want to buy more.
*Listening to music. My favorite I think is voices but I love the instrumentation a lot too.
*All the silly boys in Panic and my Spencer icon.
*Sometimes I feel like I don't,but I really love the kids I teach, they can be very sweet.
*my niece and nephews
*Really hot showers
*Getting mail. I subscribe to catalogs all the time just to get mail and read stuff.
*The color blue.
*A lot of other stuff :D
I'll probably do this myself one day and post it. Then you can read an even longer, more detailed list.

Date: 2008-05-19 10:03 pm (UTC)today's totally better, so i'm going to give this a try.
i love:
-my family. they're always there, whether i'm going through an extreme high or low. i know it's not easy for them to be around me sometimes and i thank them silently everyday for it, for their support and love and patience. they are my one constant and i sincerely hope that will never change.
-art. art i find and fall in love with or the one i imagine in my dreams and then reproduce onto canvas, doesn't matter. i love both. creativity is my air.
-the colours of nature.
-music. from anything that makes me smile like an idiot [read:bad pop] to ballads that can make me cry if listened at the right time. and everything in-between.
-candy. candy is my kryptonite, yo.
-photographs. ones i capture, old family ones, ones taken by people everywhere.
-books. i love love books. i love reading and losing myself in somebody's work for hours on end.
-fanfic. see books above.
-showers. they're a stress reducer for me and are awesome when i need to just quiet my mind for a while.
-my stuffed rabbit, jojo lapin, that i've had since i was 2 months old. he's lost a lot of his 'stuffing' and is ruffled and i love him a shit-load. he's mine.
-my computer. it's [he, really] temperamental and virus-filled and old and won't let me download things a lot of the time but he's mine and let's me waste my days away reading and finding art and yes.
-disney movies. and movies in general. yay childhood awesomeness. they don't make them like they used to.
i is done. for now.
