Time for another round of I LOVE...
May. 15th, 2008 01:43 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
This has been a bummer of a week and I need a smile, and I think you all need smiles, too. Some of you might remember how this works when I did this, uh, last year? But! I'm gonna write up a list of things I love, and then you write up a list of things you love in my comments, and we all have this huge fest of love and happiness and it's awesome :)
I, SkoosiePants, LOVE...
* you guys. Some of you have known me for years, and that’s crazy awesome, and some of you are new and it just constantly amazes me that you all want to hang around and know me. All your support overwhelms me at times.
* my zoo, because even though they drive me insane, they are fuzzy bundles of cuteness and can always make me smile: Roxy, who’s a giant asshole brat, but follows me around the house and has to be touching me at all times. Moose, who’s a complete goofy moron, but has the sweetest disposition and will eat almost anything, fruit, veggies, sticks, rocks. Chewie, who is spoiled, spoiled, spoiled, but is the cutest little dog in all of puppet land. Maude, who begs like a dog at dinner and tips over water glasses at 4 in morning to get attention, but answers to Mau-Mau and cuddles in my lap every night for purrs and rubs. Myrtle, who drops things off the windowsill onto my head in the middle of the night, but gets lost in the basement and cries her little pathetic cry until J goes and rescues her from, like, the utility sink or the closet or something. Happy, my little bunny matriarch, who reached the great age of 9 and completely forgot how to use a litter box and has to go to the vet every two months to get her teeth done, but who loves head rubs and nibbles on toes when she wants pets and still knows what time dinner is. And now little Mildred, who we absolutely do not need, but who the vet said is underweight and dehydrated and has a funny gait, and was living in an aquarium and purrs, purrs, purrs whenever you even look at her, and rolls over onto her back for licks from Roxy, the shithead pit bull. Um. The reptiles are okay, but those are J’s thing, not mine.
* writing. I love writing. There is absolutely nothing in the world I love doing as much as writing. I have characters talking to each other in my head 24-7, it never goes away, and I love it.
* finding new music! I have this thing. This thing where I download anything I can get my hands on, and someday this may prove fatal for my beloved laptop (although hopefully not), but I can’t stop downloading new music. I will download anything I vaguely recognize, and I will download any song that has a cool-weird-catchy name or any band that has a cool-weird-catchy name, and those of you who hang around my music journal probably know that. If I like one song by an artist I happen across, I will usually scour the nets for more from that artist, try my best to buy albums, etc, then share them with you. I love sharing music! I love having someone download a mix of mine who has absolutely no clue who any of the artists are, and I love when they love the music anyway.
* riding the train every day. I sit in the same seat and I recognize my fellow passengers, and I get a little upset when my engineer isn’t on duty and, really, riding the train is the most relaxing part of my day. I don’t have to worry about where I’m going or when I’m going to get there. I don’t have to think at all, I can just write in my notebook and listen to my iPod.
* Pirate Booty, who calls me up and leaves long messages on my cell about Brian The Ghost that’s followed her all over the country for years, who forgets to tell me big important things because she always thinks she’s already told me them, who says, “I miss you,” and, “I love you,” to me almost daily, without any reservations.
* J. Because he puts up with me, and I put up with him, and we both know that our, “I hate you,” means the exact opposite, and that we’re both too cool for school. He calls me chum and I call him mean and he buys lizards without telling me and brings home kittens he finds in garages and rounds up lost dogs and I know for a fact he would bawl like a baby if we ever had to give up Roxy.
* Panic, and the fact the Spencer Smith grew up, and that this doesn’t detract at all from his awesomeness. Ryan Ross is a tiny, tiny gentleman who I can never read, Brendon Urie is most likely a tactless dick, and Jon Walker seems like kind of a jerk and I love them all with a burning fiery passion. Also: I love the fact that I can separate the men from the myths, and that I can write these characters that only bear a passing resemblance to the guys they’re based on. I love that I can compartmentalize! Because people who can’t are missing out. Bandom is possibly the greatest place in the world to be. I may be slightly biased.
* my black velour lounge pants, because they’re lounge pants, yet they’re black velour, and no one has called me on the fact that I’m basically wearing pajamas to work one day a week.
* Pens. I put this on my last love list, but hi! Pens! You are awesome and sometimes I name you! I used to work at a police station and I had this super cool pen there named Pony and I even made it a little holster, and mainly this was because I was bored out of my mind at the station all day, but still! PENS YOU OWN ME WITH YOUR INKY GOODNESS.
* bitter black coffee. The devil created you, and then heaven stole you for their very own. Mmmmmmmm, coffee.
I'm outta time, but there! There, I’ve shared some, and now you should share some, because the purpose of the love list is to spread love, and doing this always makes me BEAM. Tell me what you love, do it, do it :)

Date: 2008-05-15 06:07 pm (UTC)Due South. Even though it's a really old show, it makes me laugh because of it's total crazy. And every time they're trying to find someone I keep forgetting that it was made in 1992 and that the wonder of cell phones has not spread that far yet. I love all my shows, but my love for this one is new.
Children's books. They are so well-written and enjoyable to read. Especially children's fantasy. These books just go with the flow and are an uncomplicated (but not overly easy) read that is just enjoyable. Most of my favorite books are books I read when I was younger.
Clothing. Nothing makes me happier than having new clothing. I have piles of it sitting around my room right now because it's been too cold to wear it.
I love warm weather. I'm talking 80-90 degrees. Because at 80 you can still wear a sweatshirt, but at 90 you're just warm and comfy in those shorts you've been waiting 9 months to finally wear.
Thinking about the future. I am so excited to go to college in August and all the things I can do there. I like to think about how my life will be when I'm older and it just makes me happy. Even if I don't make enough money to build the house I dream about, as long as I have my own shop and room for all my books, I'll be happy. And that thought just fills me with warmth. Planning what my line will be like makes me downright giddy even though I don't make any drawings of it. I like to let it live it my head and just be all these outrageous possibilities.

Date: 2008-05-15 06:25 pm (UTC)panic (funny how certain things on our list correlate) I love them more than air, sometimes, because they are such ridiculous dorkfaces, and they screw up sometimes, and they're awesome sometimes, but more than that, they're out there, and they're doing something, and they're changing the world in their own, small way, and I think that is something that people forget sometimes.
my bed with that sheets that it has on it right now. this one is pretty self-explanatory, except, well, sometimes when I put freshly laundered sheets on my bed, they don't fit properly, even though the dimensions are precisely right, but these sheets, for whatever reason, are smooth and soft, and not too heavy and not too scratchy, and they are the best ever. I realize I sound a little like Goldilocks, but. It's true.
music. there are a couple of communities that I have friended that just dump piles and piles of new songs and albums and all they ask for in return is a comment if you're downloading, and sometimes I just go through and grab everything I see because there's nothing so awesome as hearing something new for the first time and falling in love with it right, RIGHT away.
the way Ryan Ross sings the string part in this song (http://www.mediafire.com/?drztnwzn32x). I don't know what it is about it, but it makes me smile all the way down to my toes. He did it the twice I've seen him live, and in every live recording I have, and it's just about my favorite thing in the entire universe. I like thinking about what a ridiculous dorkface he is.
my sidekick. it drives me crazy sometimes, but I still maintain it was the best purchase I ever made. Being able to go on the internet when I am bored out of my mind, or being able to talk to anyone, anywhere, constantly amazes me.
the summertime. I love the heat, and I love the warmth, and I love that for the most part, I don't have to be in class.

Date: 2008-05-15 06:40 pm (UTC)Anyway. My list. I hope it makes you smile. :)
♥ My dogs, both of them, but especially my baby, Ru. He's so sweet and so stupid and so, so affectionate. He's always the happiest boy in the world, but I know that I when I go home for the holidays from uni he'll be absolutely beside himself with glee.
I mean, seriously. Who couldn't love this stupid face? (http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb226/and_he_walked_away/DSCN5142-1.jpg)
♥ Live music. My new year's resolution this year was to go to as many shows as possible, and thus far I've been pretty damn successful.
I love it. I love taping up my shoes and pinning my pockets and packing in tight, waiting for the house lights to go down. I love it when the kick drum hits and you can feel it rattle around your ribcage, I love it when you can feel the bass vibrate in your kneecaps, I love it when the air is so thick with sound you can barely breathe for it. I love to feel the beat in my pulse and know that everyone else is feeling it too as we move. I love dancing and dancing and then catching someone's eye and sharing a grin and a fuck yeah, isn't this awesome? I love it when it comes to leaving and I tumble out into the street and it's a shock of cold and the crush suddenly relents on my chest and I can breathe and all the sweat freeze dries and everything aches but the buzz is still in my veins and my ears. I love that I can never get enough.
♥ piercings. The nerves and the adrenalin and the pain and the rush. It's a reward if something has gone well and a pick-me-up if something's gone badly.
♥ drawing. (http://untilattila.blogspot.com) I love to draw and to paint. I forget, sometimes, because now I'm at artschool it's so tied up in stress and academics that it's nowhere near as free as it used to be, but I love art more than anything else. If I can get one person to take a moment whilst looking at one of my pieces, if I change their day just a little bit, then I'm happy.
♥ thunderstorms and sleeping and iced tea and the ocean, fuck, the ocean and road trips and yeah, I could go on and on and on and I already have so I'll stop now.

Date: 2008-05-15 06:43 pm (UTC)my job. I am underpaid and overworked and desensitized to most things after nine years of working at veterinary hospitals. But nothing warms my heart more than having a client thank me for even the smallest of things. I love people who love their pets.
my cat. Cheecharita Marshmallow is the divaiest diva to ever diva and god forbid you mess up her fur because she will glare at you and groom herself as deliberately as I've ever seen a cat groom. But she greets me every day when I come home from work and purrs and lets me pet her belly and sleeps at my feet and is generally an adorable nuisance whenever I'm in a hurry.
music. It's always been a constant in my life, from listening to my mother's Rod Stewart albums to my dad's Jimmy Buffett albums growing up. No matter what I'm doing, I need music in the background to keep me going.
my iPod. and the playlists on it and all the fabulous little songs and videos that I can enjoy at a moments notice.
This American Life. NPR, you are my secret love. Ira Glass, you run a close second. The stories told on that show make me laugh and cry and feel fuzzy inside.
THE INTERNET. unconditionally.
life. everyone has rough patches, but when you get down to it, life is an amazing thing. I hope everyone is lucky enough to experience it as I have.
This has certainly brightened up my day. Thanks!

Date: 2008-05-15 06:48 pm (UTC)My flist. The writers and non-writers; those that know me in real life, the ones I've never met and don't know their real names. I love the glimpses into real lives that are so different and yet so similar to mine.
The internet. The fact that I can connect to people all over the world at all hours. It's how I've met so many fantastic people, including my fiance.
Lip balm. Waxy goodness.
Vanilla. the smell, the taste. Heaven.
Tea. See vanilla (true heaven is Caramel Vanilla tea).
Requiem, my iPod. I love my music. I love having my music to listen to while I work.
My black Alkaline Trio hoodie. Warm, comfy, and bought for me by my fiance and it's a great band.
My imagination/writing. As we've mutually agreed, being a writer is the best thing in the world.
Post-it notes. Small colorful sticky flags which brighten up my day.
Books. Everything from the feel, smell, the visual, the weight of them, the way they hold so many things between their pages, prop open doors, tell stories, provide a footrest... books are very useful things, not just for reading.
Pete, Fran, Shelli, my Mom, my sister, the kids. They love me and put up with my temper, my flights of fancy, my mercurial moods, my obsessiveness, and I love in turn their quirks, their patience, their smiles and laughter, their compassion, their insights, and the way they all "get it" in some vital way.

Date: 2008-05-15 06:53 pm (UTC)My dog Lucky: I would use him as the key evidence in my case against your claim of Chewie as the cutest dog in the land. He's so mean to everyone, but he cuddles like a champ, even when you know he's just putting up with it because you feed him.
My boyfriend, who is Canadian, and so much better than I'll ever be. Kind and generous and completely forgiving. I don't deserve him, even a little bit, but I love him to bits.
Skittles: I have always loved fruity candies better than chocolate, and Skittles are the ultimate in fruity candies. I love starburst, but not quite as much, because they always get stuck in my back teeth.
the Internet: As sad and dorky as this sounds, I would not be the person I am today without the internet, and all the crazy, wonderful people I've met there. I long to live somewhere where all my internet friends can come and stay, and then we'd be real life friends, but I suspect that all that actually having to deal with someone's bullshit might ruin a few of those friendships. So, the internet remains my favorite place to be :)

Date: 2008-05-15 07:13 pm (UTC)writing: Most of my rl journal is taken up talking about my two favorite characters Owen and James. As I lament often, it is sad to me that only, like, 2 people outside of my head know who these two are. Le sigh. Most of the documents on my computer that are not for school are about those 2, because they are AMAZING.
bandom: I check the LJ for updates way more often than is healthy. And I love it.
tea: I think I am up to, like, 4 cups a day now and climbing.
Babybel cheeses: Have you had these? Good Lord, they are the most delicious things in the world, and I'm not that big on cheese.
Jorn the iPod: Named after my favorite singer's (Rufus Wainwright) boyfriend, mainly because I have more Rufus songs on there than anything else. I love making playlists and naming them things like "Also into Cats" and "You Smell Like a Slut." Thanks again, bandom.

3. I love to write. Not just stories, but anything. The slide of a pen on paper or the sound of keys clacking make me happy in a way I could never explain.
4. I have massive love for office supplies. Pens, paper, white out, notebooks, permanent markers, etc. Label makers are my favorites.
5. I love fanfiction. I don't even know how it got to that point, but I've never looked back.
6. I love driving at 2 in the morning when no one else is on the roads and I can finally feel safe behind the wheel of an automobile.
7. My Chemical Romance. I love them so much it's not even funny. I loved them when I was 16 and depressed, I loved them when I was 18 and all my friends abandoned me, and I loved them when I was 19 and finally managed to see them in concert. I love Frank's ridiculous face, I love how Gerard will totally save your life, I love each and every version of Mikeyway, I love Ray Toro's geeky awesomeness, and I love Bob Bryar for being Bob Bryar.
8. I love Patrick Stump. I love his adorable little face and his collection of hats. I love his voice and his band and all the little things that make him so adorable. I love how much Pete loves him and how he loves Pete just as much.
9. I love my family. Even though they haven't always been the best, I know they love me and that's what really matters.

3. Cobra Starship. One of the most awesome, fun, brilliant bands ever. They don't take themselves seriously, and they love their fans.
4. Gabe Saporta. He brought me alcohol. How can I not love him for that?
5. Books. I've loved these since I was a child just learning to read. I still love books all these years later.

3. Fanfic (esp. Dirty Trousers which I have printed and bound like an actual book so I can read it even when I'm away from the computer): Fanfic makes my world go 'round and introduces me to all sorts of new things that I would never pay attention to otherwise (ie. Bandfic which I now love).
4. My friends and family: They put up with everything and only occasionally lose their cool with me.
5. Books: My best friends since forever.

Date: 2008-05-15 08:15 pm (UTC)-Go-gurt: who wouldn't love yogurt you can eat without a spoon?
-My best friend V, because even though I live so far away, she can pick up the phone after two weeks and we'll talk like it was just yesterday that I was there.
- Singing in the car: Queen, Journey, and Cobra Starship are the most fun.
- Car-dancing: Seriously, it works when you're spending 45 mins in morning traffic. The looks are worth it too. The Blinker, the Windshield Wiper, then finish it off with Pedal to the Metal!
- My unhealthy obsession with watching Golden Girls, I love it so and I don't know why.
- Dexter Freebish, their album Tripped into Divine, and their song Twilight. Look it up. You'll see what I mean.
- 3am, because some of my best ideas are born then

My cat Gretl. she's all grey with white patches on her tummy and she KNOWS when i'm sad or in an otherwise bad mood and will come and sit with me to cheer me up.
Vintage Sewing. Making a dress with a full twirly skirt is just too much fun.
Large double-double coffee and breakfast sandwich from Tim Hortons on a saturday morning. best way to start the weekend.
Walking around town (i don't drive) with my earphones on. i was downtown last weekend and GCH's "7 weeks" was playing and the sun was shining, reflecting off all the glass of all the buildings and everything was great.
Singing. if music is on, i'm probably singing along with it. especially if it's french pop music.
I also love that i have one more day at my shitty job, then a long weekend, then i start a new job on tuesday!

Date: 2008-05-15 08:30 pm (UTC)1, light. light is essential, we can not live without light, warms my soul, light does.
2, the sx-70, it's the most amazing camera in the world, i'm all about experience and using that camera is an amazing experience. seriously, even when the time comes and i can't use it. oh polaroid!
3, my other amazing cameras because i'm a gear head even though most of my cameras aren't very high tech...
4, reading, to be able to escape into books, into fanfic, into knowledge is an amazing amazing thing.
5, my boy, he is the awesome and gets my obsessions whether or not he understands.
6,art, life, art, light it's all the same and all very essential. yes yes?
7,riding the bus. i hated it at first, the strange people that use it, the long and tedious ride, but i grew to love it. a, why spend the money on a car that eats at our environment, b, i like people watching, even if i'm a little scared of some of the people, c, i get to listen to my music and get lost in my head without (usually) interruptions.
8, my best girl, cause even when she's far away we still have awesome relationship, plus she's amazing, yes yes.

-the two hours a day i get to read/knit/relax taking the bus to and from work.
- this (http://www.purlbee.com/evening-shrug/) knitting pattern
-pushing daisies, my favourite show currently on tv.
-spending the last sunday of every month in london with my best friend.
i probably have more, but my husband is home now. i love him too!

Date: 2008-05-15 09:27 pm (UTC)Pete Wentz - He's insane and writes stupid blogs at ungodly hours and my little sister has seen him naked on the internet, but he gave us Panic and Patrick Stump and I love him for it. Without him I wouldn't have Cobra or the Cab or TAI.
Fanfic - My love for it is unhealthy and will one day make me flunk out of college.
Say Anything - Max Bemis is a rock god.
Records - I love collecting vinyl. The sound is so much better than mp3s.
My pets - My dogs are brats but I love them all. Fuu is a crazy ninja hamster. Freya's an adorable baby rat who wants to ride on my shoulder and lick my ear.
Supernatural - Pretty boys with guns and a hot car.
Stargate Atlantis - Rodney. Ronon. Really just the idea of dorks being in space and being so very excited to be there.
Alice in Wonderland - She was the one Disney girl I liked as a child. She's brave and curious and she was the only one who didn't seem to need a Prince Charming to show up and save her.
L.J. Smith novels - They're very dated 90s supernatural romance books for teens but I love everything about them. The girls are always independent and smart and manage to redeem their bad boy love interests in the end. These books are probably the reason I'm so into the Anita Blake series.

Date: 2008-05-15 11:50 pm (UTC)-the fact that i literally just finished my junior year of college. this has been the longest year so far, mostly because i went to summer school, had a falling out with one of my closest friends at the same time that my other closes friend decided to drop out of school, and then all my other friends went abroad. on top of the fact that i took such difficult classes. on top of the fact that my grandmother died like the third week of school. so i love that it's finally summer vacation.
-the fact that my college decided to be nice for my last year and gave me a ridiculous aid package.
-that my whole campus looks like th secret garden. everywhere i look there are flowers and green green trees and beautiful things. i've been here three years and i never get over nature.
-sunny days and warm nights and the prospect of a 4th of july bbq with my officemates.
-that i'v had so many amazing opportunities in life. i never want to forget that.
-the new shoes i bought and wore to class this morning. i felt like i pretty girl for about two hours before i went back to harried college student.
-that i have a better idea of what i want to do in life. even if i don't really have a plan yet, i like having a goal to work toward.
-the cab. i hate to admit it, but it's true.
-my bigbang fics. even though they gave me so much trouble and need to be edited so hard.
-the new flavor of hawaiian punch, but not as much as the original which is one of my favorites.
-that my mom finally sent me my deluxe edition of pretty.odd. even though i've barely had time to look at it.
-you. because you write awesome awesome fic and then read it out loud. and then make lists of things that you love. there always needs to be more love in the world.

Date: 2008-05-16 01:25 am (UTC)i love:
- new, epic fic that i can settle down with a cup of hot tea and my frank iero skeleton gloves to read (because i'm a dork. i have rituals) and love.
- sleeping in the same bed with my little sister; she's six years old and very grumpy at the moment, (six going on sixteen), and there's such a huge age gap between us that it gets hard to get on sometimes, but at night she snuggles up close and has a weird sixth sense for when i'm having bad dreams.
- listening to cds in the car
- j.d. salinger
- long, hot showers, especially when no one else is in the house so i can sing as loudly as i like. hell yes, i am one of those people.
- thinking about this august; because i get to see panic at the mothertruckin' disco (twice), and also to have my first fandom meet up, and i am so, so excited about meeting people like
- crappy music! i think i have reasonably okay taste in music, but sometimes i just want to headbang along to some bad pop.
- getting parcels/letters in the mail, and sending them too. my post office thinks i'm mildly crazy.
-
- posts like this! excuse me while i now go browse everyone else's comments.

Date: 2008-05-16 02:41 am (UTC)-The fact that I just found out you wrote a Ryan of Green Gables fic from that first comment up there, cause how have I not read that? HOW!?
-Bandom. Cause it took me long enough, but now that I'm here I wouldn't have it any other way. SO MUCH GOOD STUFF.
-listening to music loud enough to drown out my own voice.
-sunshine!
-my cat. She is both precious and retarded.
Re: I love

Date: 2008-05-16 03:04 am (UTC)-Hedley, seriously, if you've never heard this band, download some of their stuff, I'd recommend stuff, but I love it all, especially 'For The Nights I Can't Remember' and this one song they sing about high school and being cavalier about how they used to be? Seriously, any song with the word CAVALIER in it wins my vote.
-Speaking of, I love songs that use ridiculously verbose words, like happenstance, which is in the Sloan song 'The Other Man', it's pretty amazing.
-I love the song Nowhere With You by the Joel Plaskett Emergency, mostly because I'm in a musical mood.
-I love the fact that I get paid to hang out with 16 kids who I adore, pushing them on swings and drawing pictures with them and cuddling them when they skin their knees. Also, the fact that most of my co-workers are amazing, and we're currently in the process of cracking open this mint condition version of the Backstreet Boys Board Game (!!!) that one of them had stashed away, and converting it into a drinking came.
-I love picking a new favourite colour every day.
-I love Supernatural, and the season finale is on in an hour.
-I love my dog, his name is Elmo, and he's been my best friend since I was 12, which was 13 years ago. He's old and a bit crippled and kind of grumpy and smelly but I love him.
-I love my nephew, Aiden, who is 11 months old and the most ridiculously adorable kid ever.
-I love that my whole life revolves around various children, when I don't actually like children at all.
-I love that Ryan Ross is my Hero because he's so not hero material but I think that's pretty fabulous.
-I love squeegies
-I love the way four year olds tell me I'm the best artist they know, because I can draw t-rexes and dragons and mermaids. Not well, but, you know.
-I love that I'm optimistic and that I feel like everything bad sort of has to fade away each night, so each time you fight with someone, you should get to have a clean slate the next day.
-I love my Thumbs Up From Spencer and Jon icon.
