And becausetwo of you so many of you asked for a Breakfast Club scene, I wrote this. It's actually only loosely BfC, and it's also young Marauders, which I have never, ever written before. Fun snippet, going nowhere. Unbeta'd and pretty raw. I may write a longer, crackier one with the current gang of Hogwarters, but that remains to be seen.
Remus twitched and curled further into himself, head bowing as he felt the weight of blue eyes. That Black boy, the one who looked like he lived out of his jacket and could scowl with his mouth while his eyes were laughing, was watching him. Watching him, and not making any show of hiding the fact. Openly staring, chewing on the end of his pen, fingers pinched around the belly like he was dying for a fag.
Remus gazed at him through lowered lashes and his shag of limp brown hair, willing him to turn away.
He was in detention. Remus actually wasn’t quite sure why he was in detention. He’d spent the morning in the chemistry lab, basically getting no where with his project, and he’d spotted Severus just outside the library on his way past.
Severus was excellent at chem. Sometimes he’d help Remus out with his homework. Sometimes, of course, he wouldn’t, but Remus had approached him with optimism born of desperation.
But before he could do much more than give Severus a tentative hello, Moody barked at them to head inside, going so far as to poke Remus in the back with his knobby walking cane. Remus didn’t put up much of a fuss, even after he realized he’d gotten caught up in a Saturday detention. Pathetically, he didn’t have anything else to do.
James and Lily were there as well, and Lily sent Remus a soft smile when he darted a quick glance over and really. Black was the only one who made him nervous.
“Hey.”
Remus tightened his grip on his bag and studied the graffiti carved into the library table. Apparently, Luke Malfoy was a man-whore.
A thump, and then one of Black’s loosely curled fists slid into his view. “Hey. You talk? Snapey, does Lupin here ever talk?”
“Don’t touch me, mongrel,” Severus growled, and Remus jerked his head up to see the thin, hook-nosed boy sneering at Black with distaste, leaning as far away from him as he could.
Black, long dark hair swept away from his face in a low bob, mock-growled and snapped at Severus. Then he flicked a sharp grin at Remus before he could lower his gaze again. “Damn,” he drawled, brows drawn together. “You’ve got gorgeous eyes.”
A hot blush burned up his neck. He’d gotten that before, though the adjective used was normally pretty and the connotation was normally more than a little openly derogative.
“Leave Remus alone,” Lily said, tossing her hair over her shoulder and smacking James when he started snickering.
James’ lower lip jutted out in an exaggerated pout. “Oh, come on, Lils, it’s funny. And Sirius isn’t being mean,” he turned to Black, “are you Sirius?”
Black nodded, gaze still locked on Remus, then said in direct contrast, “Not mean at all, James. Entirely truthful, in fact.” He leant forward, and Remus wanted to slide down under the table, melt into the background, something, because he couldn’t look away. “You, young Lupin, have great eyes. Sexy eyes.”
Oh god. Remus wanted to die. His throat dried up, and his hands were white-knuckled on his bag, and he finally tore his gaze away from Black, staring off to the side and down because the carpet was absolutely fascinating and was that a pencil eraser?
And because

Brilliant. I don't know why that stands out for me, but it's a marvelous description.
And I could quote the rest of the story, but I won't. :D But pretty much everything happening between Remus and Sirius just...burns. It's that smoldering.
