Hehe, the only thing you missed on ym mind is a lot of whining about my nano, even though I've privati-ised all the entries. Really, I'm not even THAT behind. Only a couple thousand words.
Not that I don't like you too, but can I poke Spot instead?
I swear, you've started me on an entire Newsies nostalgia kick. I rewatched the movie the other night, and was singing along withuot realizing it. It's going to be all I can do to not look up fic today; I have papers to write!
And I have officially been reading fic for too long; I never used to slash that movie (incredible, no?) I just had Jack break up with Sarah and fall for a Mary Sue instead. But oh! the slashy subtext, and I am converted, and it was bad enough the first two times that I saw "Batman Begins" and had Newsies flashbacks, but now when I have those flashbacks they will include subtext too, and I will probably never see Bale's relationship with Liam Neeson the same way again. Guh.
Dude, subtext!! So much awesome boy/boy subtext in Newsies *nods* do not resist the lure of Newsies slashfic! though, yeah, a lot of it sucks... ya gotta wade through some crap.
I actually read a lot more newsies fic that I haven't put up at House of Pants yet... I tend to go on voracious (sp?) reading jags and then totally forget what I read, so it'll take some searching to make a list!
Ooh, that would be excellent! I think I'm in the Racetrack/Spot-and-Jack/David-with-post-Jack/Racetrack-implied camp. They're so touchy-feely... gorgeousness. Although a fic with Spot teaching David all about how to... umm... "be a Newsie" would be a lot of fun too.
I do remember reading a good but very depressing fic where Jack actually goes to Santa Fe and loses his virginity to a prostitute. Quite sad but well done, or at least I still remember it in a good way. If I ever remember the title I'll tell you what it is.
I totally love Spot and Racetrack, though I don't know why. They really don't interact that much in the movie :) Oooo, but Spot is totally casing out Dave when they first meet. And Jack is all, but he's mine! Look at me touch him!!
But they do interact! The "King of New York" and the various fights, and hanging out around the statue in the square, and for the picture they're almost hugging each other, aren't they?
And yes! I could see the tension jumping off the screen when David's sucking up to Spot and doesn't even realize that Spot isn't so much asking "Who is this twit who dares to speak to me?" as he is asking "Who is this prettyboy who's all fiery, hmmm?"
Thought the image of Spot even saying "prettyboy" is an awfully weird one.
I can't imagine writing that much in a month. I mean, maybe it'd happy by accident, but I couldn't commit myself to it *shakes head*
mmmmmm.... crackers. crackers are awesome. I love triskets. and soft chedder. mmmmm... so hungry now.
I hope I can get back in the writing groove now that some craziness is done with... but I just started the chronicles of Narnia, so I'll probably waste some time with that instead :)
I'm only about 70 pages in, but I'm hooked! I can't believe I didn't read it when I was younger. Well, I was more into books about horses than fantasy when I was young. God, I was a horse freak. Totally.
I lost a war with cookies tonight. They stared me down with their peanut buttery goodness. I was no match.
hurrah for finished thesises!! or thesii... whatever *grins*
And you got Moose!
I, apparently, am a Bulldog What Common Breed of Dog Are You? (http://quizilla.com/users/EmrysWolf/quizzes/What%20Common%20Breed%20of%20Dog%20Are%20You%3F/)
Makes sense. Kinda insulting, but it does make sense :)
i look like Moose, too! I'm totally black and furry with floppy ears and all that. I think the key is to ignore the aesthetic oddness or the physical phallacies and look at the temperament thing. Which works, really, since my girlfriend got a greyhound - she's not skinny and she doesn't run fast but she is quiet and devoted but only to a couple of people, bla bla, can't be bothered finishing this sentance, she's JUST LIKE A GREYHOUND.
and i am a noble MOOSE.
the plural of 'thesis' is 'theses' which is - conveniently - similar to feces. Not enough has been made of that in academic circles, i feel.
*laughs* Well, I'm certainly stubborn, choosy and lazy, so I guess that fits, too. I wouldn't have minded getting a greyhound, though *pouts slightly*
noble Moose gets me. only 'cause he's such a goofy bastard who loves his woobie :) I'm watching him right now bury his face in it for a nice sleep... awwwww!
I believe I am sleep deprived and rambling. so sorry *grins*
There's no bears in Germany? That is odd. Maybe I find that odd, though, cause in the German part of Switzerland, in Bern, there's a pit with bears in it and I found that highly disturbing.... they looked so sad in their stone pit.
Wow, and now I'm wildly off on a tangent. sorry. *waves back*
It's like a zoo enclosure, only it's not grass. It's just a... stone pit. I didn't like it *nods*
butterfly!JC! I made it myself. He's a superhero who defeats evil by being sparkly and charming and pretty. And I am possibly the Scariest Sparkly Fangirl Evah.
Tell me is it hot in the US? Do you have to wrap yourself up in about seven layers to keep warm? And does the train service decide that it's not going to be on time when there has been frost and you forgot your gloves?
Apart from that I had the flu. Have you caught the lovely winter cold yet?
Well I don't even know why I moan about the weather anymore. I live in the UK for God sakes! Everyone knows its cold. Although we got warm weather this year. HA!
Yeah. And it was during the week I had two maths resits. Bloody typical.
Good luck with that! I hope you're ok. It's horrible when you're ill!
I am uber excited! Alas, it's sold out this weekend, though, since J and I want to see it on IMAX and there's only 4 playings a day on it. We'll have to wait another week :(
